On my way back to Milwaukee from West Bend, I took a little detour down to Ackerville. Though nothing appeared to be moving, a green-over-red signal to the north (geographic west) indicated that a train would likely soon be on its way. Indeed, a northbound manifest soon whistled for the Hillside Road crossing, and I scrambled across the bridge to set up for a photo. I had plenty of time for the shot, however, since the train was using the new mainline, recently built to bypass the growing Ackerville interchange yard.
As soon as the power became more visible, I knew I was in for an extra treat, since the second unit had white stripes painted on the nose! BCOL GE C44-9W 4647 trailed CN EMD SD75I 5741. Mark W. Hintz photo, 02/06/09, Ackerville (Polk) WI
